Sometimes you have to take a step backwards to see the scale of human beings in the great big, messy city. The hustle and bustle and close proximity of people to each other can often hide just how small we all are in relation to the size of the places we've created.

The human scale emerged as a little theme in my street photography while we were in the US recently. Here are four pictures that make the point by using individual figures in the street.
